I'd wanted to put in harnesses for track use for a while, but they don't work very well with stock Miata seats for two reasons. First, there are no holes for the shoulder belts, second I'm tall enough (just under six feet) that the top of my helmet was two inches ABOVE the roll bar. With harnesses holding me rigidly in a seat, that would be really bad news in a rollover. Now the car has Recaro Pole Position seats, Scroth 6-point harnesses and a Hard Dog bolt-in harness bar.
Seat mounting fabrication by TC Design. Seats are bolted to the floor, with the factory rear seat mounts cut out on the driver's side. It's lowered my head by about 2-3 inches of clearance so that it's now actually lower than the roll bar, rather than 2 inches above.
